Extension Installation
The BreakGround Chrome Extension lets you create and manage guided content directly in your web application. Use it to record interactive flows, create standalone tooltips, and add beacons — all while browsing the live page. Install it from the Chrome Web Store to get started.
Install from Chrome Web Store
- Open the Chrome Web Store and search for BreakGround Flow Recorder.
- Click Add to Chrome and confirm the permissions prompt.
- The BreakGround icon appears in your browser toolbar. Pin it for quick access.
Required Permissions
The extension requests the following permissions:
- activeTab -- access the current tab to capture click targets and page URLs during recording.
- storage -- persist authentication state and in-progress recordings locally.
- scripting -- inject the recording content script into the active page.
Connecting to Your BreakGround Account
- Click the BreakGround icon in the toolbar to open the popup.
- Enter your email and password (the same credentials you use for the BreakGround dashboard).
- Click Log in. On success, the popup displays your email, company name, and role.
Verifying the Connection
After logging in, the popup shows your authenticated user info. If the connection fails:
- Verify your dashboard credentials work by logging in at the dashboard directly.
- Check that your browser allows third-party cookies if your API is on a different domain.
Once connected, you are ready to record flows.
